Festival i Japan er utsatt

Her finner du et brev fra den internasjonale amatørteaterorganisasjon AITA/IATA.

Dear Members and Associates of AITA/IATA,

Across the planet, we are all facing an unprecedented and even historic situation. Culture can still be displayed on social networks, but the performing arts are deprived of audiences and expression. Even in wartime, the Theatre had never been completely closed. Today, in most countries, theatres are closed, many shows and festivals have been cancelled or postponed. And for us amateurs, the situation impacts us economically. This period is limited but it will leave its mark. We will undoubtedly have to modify our behaviour, change our habits and adapt to other models. However, the authors' texts still exist, and the actors bring them to life by embodying the most moving, funniest, craziest roles, in scenes that are sometimes the most unexpected, even in classic plays. This is the Theatre! We know that we can count on your commitment and your imagination to achieve beautiful things, to continue to vibrate your passion within your associations.

When everything returns to "normal", we will witness fireworks of creations. As you may have learned through social media, the PAT 2020 Festival, a quadrennial meeting dedicated to theatre for children and young people, which was to be held this summer in Toyama has been postponed until next year. This festival will be held from 1st to 5th May 2021. The AITA/IATA Council that was to be held in Russia next month will now be held by videoconference. For this occasion, in a completely exceptional way, we ask you to communicate to the Secretariat any comments for discussion in Council. Our Annual General Meeting will be held online to allow as many as possible to participate. We will send you the information and statutory documents at the appropriate time. I especially hope that you can take care of yourself and protect those around you. Please stay safe!

With my friendly thoughts

Yours sincerely

Béatrice Cellario President
